For sale: Jaguar MKII 3. 4l (1967), 46 years with the same owner.
History of the Jaguar MKII 3. 4L model
Presented in 1959, the Jaguar MKII (Mark 2) quickly established itself as one of the most iconic sporting saloons of its era. A direct evolution of the Jaguar MKI, it benefited from major improvements both aesthetically and technically.
From its launch, the MKII stood out with an enlarged glass area offering better visibility, as well as more slender and balanced lines, enhancing its typically British elegance. The interior, meanwhile, reflected Jaguar craftsmanship with a refined presentation combining veneers, leather and a complete set of instruments.
The 3. 4L version, positioned between the 2. 4L and the 3. 8L, is equipped with the famous XK inline-six engine of 3, 442 cm³. This engine develops around 210 horsepower, providing an excellent compromise between performance and smoothness of use. Coupled with a manual gearbox with overdrive or an automatic transmission depending on the configuration, it allows the MKII to achieve remarkable performance for a saloon in this category in the 1960s.
The Jaguar MKII 3. 4L also stands out for its advanced road manners, thanks notably to four-wheel disc brakes, a relatively rare technology at the time, giving it powerful and enduring braking.
Very quickly, the MKII becomes a reference, both on the road and in competition. It features prominently in many touring events and appeals to a varied clientele, ranging from motorsport enthusiasts to personalities from cinema and business.
Produced up to 1967, the Jaguar MKII remains today an icon of British motoring, prized for its timeless elegance, comfort and performance. The 3. 4L version, in particular, represents an ideal balance, making it a highly sought-after model by collectors.
History of this Jaguar MKII 3. 4L for sale
This Jaguar MKII 3. 4L was first delivered in England in February 1967.
We trace its history through a substantial file of invoices dating from May 1978, in the name of Mr Foreman. It was then based in Neuilly, showing an odometer reading of 52, 338 miles.
In July 1980, it passed into the hands of its last owner, who will retain it until today. Since then, the car has benefited from careful maintenance, evidenced by a large number of invoices, attesting to serious upkeep and regular use.
Bodywork
The bodywork was repaired and repainted in Maroon in our workshops in 2006.
It presents today in very good condition, with a uniform and neat finish. Only a slight reprise is to be expected at a rear spoiler, with no impact on the overall quality of the car.
Upholstery
The beige leather upholstery, very probably original, is in superb condition and shows a remarkable patina, fully in keeping with the car’s age.
The headlining as well as the carpets are also in very good condition and were likely renewed during the car’s life.
Engine and gearbox
The engine, regularly maintained, runs perfectly and shows excellent oil pressure. It was adapted to unleaded fuel in the early 2000s, improving its everyday use.
The car is equipped with a five-speed gearbox, replacing the original, offering improved driving pleasure and greater comfort, particularly on long journeys.
Running gear and brakes
This Jaguar is fitted with disc brakes at the front and rear, with four-piston calipers, ensuring strong braking for the era.
The braking system is currently undergoing revision in our workshops.
The running gear is stable and delivers very good road grip.
The car sits on four chrome 72-spoke wheels, in excellent condition, contributing to its overall elegance.
