Description
With only 42, 000 miles on the clock from new, this Triumph Stag has been used very sparingly. Having been supplied new by Lambs Ltd of Woodford Green in London, a Triumph Main Dealer, the car returned to them for its first five services which is displayed in the original Triumph Service Passport in the history file. In the late 1980s the car was shipped off to Jersey where LMP53P lived a sheltered life of 25 years covering only 10, 000 miles in that time. In the early 2000’s the Stag landed back in the UK where a further four and a half thousand miles have been covered since.
The car arrives to us from a local customer having owned the car for over 5 years and religiously MOT testing and servicing the car. In 2020, nearly £10, 000 was spent with our sister company Malton Coachworks to carry out a major engine overhaul and other mechanical jobs, making this car a very reliable weekend toy. The bores were honed back and engineered to standard specification, the engine block faces were machined, the crank was reground, the cylinder heads were machined, and a vacuum test was carried out. A new full gasket kit, timing chain, clutch plate, release bearing, water pump, thermostat, and oil seals were also fitted. Further work included a carburettors rebuild. The underside was cleaned off and cavity waxed to preserve the underneath, and the steering column bushes were replaced which gives the steering a very precise feel on the road. Since the major program of repair work, the car has enjoyed a careful 5 years of ownership, been MOT tested every year and has been serviced regularly.
To take the car out, it starts on the button, pulls very well and holds excellent oil pressure both at idle and when up to speed. The brakes are strong, and the heaters get nice and warm which is a great bonus on these winter mornings. The overdrive comes in smoothly on the allowing the Triumph V8 engine to sit comfortable at the national speed limit. The exterior presents wonderfully well with its alloy wheels and Royal Blue paintwork with the accompanying hard top.
This Triumph stag is a great driving car that presents very well and offers a wonderful classic car experience with excellent value.
The private registration mark carried will not be sold with the vehicle, it will come supplied with the number plate LMP 53P.
