Description
This is a 1972 Europa Special. The car required full restoration and was in a sorry state. It was decided to make what we feel is the ultimate Lotus Europa, i. e. the racing Lotus 47. A decision was made to acquire a Lotus 47 shell with bonnet and engine cover. This has been skilfully bonded onto a Twin Cam chassis (the idea was to create the correct look but the car to be an everyday user and have the comforts as such. Adjustable seats, electric windows and fully functional instruments and interior. Hopefully this has been achieved with the colour and fittings on the car and to echo the Lotus Le Mans entry in the 1960's (as raced by Team Elite). Specially made alloy petrol tanks were incorporated for the fitment of the 47 Type flip petrol filler caps as was many other special features modified for this car. The car has been fully restored with new Lotus chassis supplied and fitted with close ratio five speed gearbox and the Lotus Big Valve engine converted to QED 420 specification producing 145-150 BHP. The car has Lotus 47 features, body shell with NACA ducts, Monza filler caps, flared in front side lights and indicators, 1965 Indy badge and period World Championship Winners badge, ODI fixings, specially commissioned 47 wheels c/ w Michelin 185/ 70 x 13 front tyres and 205/ 70 x 13 rear tyres with corresponding 47 knock-on spinners finished off in White with green racing stripes (the stripes could be changed if a different colour is preferred). Everything has either been replaced or refurbished to exacting standards and a lot of thought has gone into it. This car has had a considerable amount of time and expense carried out on it. The car drives superbly and looks amazing. I will be sorry to see this car go! The car has a current V5 Registration document, bills, history and MOT.
