Mustang race car with fabulous 58 year old racing history . Winner of 1966 and 1967 South African Saloon Car Championship driven by Basil van Rooyen. Raced at Brands Hatch in 1966 . Competed in a series of challenge races against British Champion Roy Pierpoint in his Ford Falcon in 1966 . Raced continuously up to 2007 . Restored in 2019 and has since competed in S Africa and Mozambique . ( This is the only car to have raced at all three versions of the historic Maputo/ Lourenco Marques track. ). Much of the running gear is original as raced by Basil in 1966 eg Performance cast iron head , GT40 Quad IDA intake manifold with Weber carbs, Top loader G/ B , 9" LS diff , magnesium alloy rims, twin bowl baffled petrol tank , original suspension as modified by Basil with adjustable Koni shocks . Updated in 2019 with 302 block with 347 Scat forged rotating sub , 6 pot brake callipers . Fully documented and authenticated history . Brilliant neutral car to drive . I can assist with shipping .
