The Appeal
Converting a car built to commemorate rally success for rally success seems entirely fitting to us. This well kept and very detailed Escort Mk1 rally-prepared car is a fitting reminder of those days when the Daily Mirror-sponsored Mexicos were pummelling the competition into submission all around the world.
The extensive updates have been completed to a high standard such that this car could be used on the road or for historic rally events. The work includes a 1,700cc Kent Crossflow engine with racing cam and a Type 9 5spd gearbox. The shell features Type 49 strengthening to boot floor and front struts. A full roll cage, uprated fuel system, electricity and fuel cut offs and full fire extinguishing system are just the start of the lengthy features you can check in the photos.
The car was acquired in 2023 by the current keeper from a friend. It has been little used in recent years but is said to run and drive very well. It is in good order and perfect for shows, events or simply turning heads on the road.
