For sale, my beautiful AC Cobra 427 Shelby Recreation.
Built by a company called KCC in Johannesburg South Africa (now owned by Backdraft in the USA).
These are one of the most authentic recreations, very similar body proportions, fuel cap in the correct locations etc. KCC built an amazingly close to the original AC Cobra, as I’m sure you can see by the photos. This is a true period recreation.
Imported into the UK in 1991 and stored until 2015, when it's restoration started.
It has a full V5, registered in 1991 but now runs a 1966 period correct number plate.
It has undergone a full air chassis rebuild with no expense spared. Everything is new or been reworked.
ENGINE:
It's running a 351 Clevor which is a 351 Windsor block and 4v Cleveland heads and a very very rare track boss intake manifold (Google Clevor engines).
It has been completely rebuilt by Duel Performance Engines in Wales. It has been stroked with a Prostreet billet crank, taking it up to 7. 2 litres (427 cubic inch) so loads of bhp and endless torque. H beam rods, Keith Black pistols, decked block, reworked heads, roller rockers and the full works has been done to this engine. Everything inside and outside this engine is new, running a 750 double pumper Holly carburettor, which is set up correctly. No expense spared and loads of invoices to back this up.
GEARBOX:
Running a Ford top loader (4 speed) coupled to a XJS locker diff.
WHEELS:
Running very wide 15" rims, same as the original, refurbed and fitted with brand new AVON CR6 ZZ, fronts are 225/ 60VR15, rears are 295/ 50VR15.
EXHAUST:
New stainless steel side pipes (sounds amazing!)
BRAKES:
XJS brakes all round, 4 pots fronts, 2 pots rear, all new calipers.
SUSPENSION:
XJS rear end and front wish bones, all strengthen and shorted. There is no suspension or steering ball joints on this car, everything has stainless steel rose joints and all new. 4 very expensive fully adjustable coil overs, built for the weight and geometry of this car.
ELECTRICS:
Everything works as it should, had a new wiring loom, all lights, period correct Smiths gauges, etc
INTERIOR:
The dash offers the period correct Cobra layout, with period correct Smiths gauges.
This car was professionally tuned and set up by Top Cat Racing in Buckinghamshire.
There really is too much to list on what this car has, if you’re truly interested in an awesome Cobra, as near to the real this as it gets.
The Cobra drives very well and sounds incredible. I've owned it for 5 years.
Selling due to lack of use (sadly didn't get the chance to use it last year), do it's making space for something else.
