Description
1995 Fiat Coupe 16v Classic Car project.
This is a very rare example of a 16v Fiat Coupe that was sold for less than 2 years before the 5-cylinder cars were introduced for the rest of production. The 16v cars feature the last version of the famous Fiat-Lancia Lampredi twin-cam engine and due to lighter weight handle much better than the later, heavier cars. With less than twenty still on the road and a few more on SORN such as this example these are rare Pininfarina built cars that will only go up in value in coming years. See Auto Italia issue no. 349 March 2025 for a recent article on these stylish 90’s classics.
This example has less than 80K on the clock and runs very well, however it needs repairs to the sill ends and rear arch lips, plus a few other rust spots and a bit of paint. These are all typical for a 30-year-old Fiat Coupe and this is not the worst example I have seen, so a straightforward project for someone with welding skills or a tame welder and a bit of time on their hands. A cam-belt change is also recommended which needs to be done every 3 years on this engine to be on the safe side.
The car comes with boxes of spares that I have been collecting for this project inc. a set of leather seats and a set of the later 16 inch four-spoke alloys that just need painting. These two upgrades really suit a Broom Yellow Coupe. Other parts inc. a new radiator and heater matrix, the correct early front grille, genuine power steering pump, SKF water pump, spare distributor, stainless tank straps, brake cables, rear shocks and loads of other bits that have cost a few quid to gather together for a basic mechanical overhaul as part of the project. Also included are two genuine FIAT workshop manuals for the 16v Coupe as per the picture which are rare and expensive.
This is a reluctant sale as I also have an Alfa GTV Phase 1 from the same era that needs work, and I have decided to focus my time and money on the Alfa and reluctantly let the Fiat go. The price reflects the value of the car as a good project, plus the value of the spares and I’m open to sensible offers. The vehicle has recently been returned to its original 'N' registration plate.
This car needs preserving and would be a fairly straightforward project, so I will not let it go for spares or breaking. Happy to discuss further with sensible people
The car is in storage near Glastonbury in Somerset.
