Description
An exciting opportunity. Recently discovered pre-war Lagonda’s available separately or as a pair.
(PICTURES 3-29) AEL 609 is a ‘slab-tank’ 1934 Lagonda Rapier with Tourer body; an interesting pre-war special akin to that of the Eagle design by Newns of Thames Ditton featuring a pre-selector gearbox. The car started life as a saloon (possibly an Abbot body) but was modified over sixty years ago (it is listed as a Tourer in the 1957 log-book entry). Side screens and tonneau are also present with the car (and the windscreen which is not fitted).
(PICTURES 30-51) AWS 706 is an original 1937 Ranalah Coachworks Ltd (formerly John Charles & Co) bodied four-seater tourer. A right-hand change original four-speed pre-selector gearbox, with the engine still in situ also.
After 1935 Lagonda officially became LG Motors of Staines Ltd with the rights to production of the motorcars being awarded to the newly formed Rapier Cars Ltd. Only 46 Ranalah bodied cars are believed to have been produced, up until 1938.
Both cars have modern V5 documents, as well as original ‘buff’ and green continuation log books. Both have been in the same ownership since 1976 and are now available due to the late owners passing.
