The Ford Cortina Twin Cam Lotus was affectionally named 'Lotus Cortina' very soon after it was produced and launched by Colin Chapman in 1963, and the production ran until 1970. It was a collaboration between Ford and Lotus, with the Twin Cam Elan engine and it won the hearts and minds of people all over the world, but none so much as right here in Great Britain.
The Group 5 Works Rally cars were incredibly successful in the hands of Graham Hill, Jackie Ickx, Sir John Whitmore, and the Absolutely Heroic Jim Clark who pretty much wiped the floor with all of the competition in one of these.
This quickly led to every petrol headed person with a driving licence queuing up to buy themselves a Ford Cortina, which is why so many of us so fondly remember the Cortina's our fathers had when we were children.
This particular Lotus Cortina still has the original log book, as well as the one following that from 1986, plus a file of historic invoices. It is a joy to drive as well as to look at, and is an easy car to own and maintain and a real talking point at any show or car meet.
