Introduced at the 2003 Geneva Salon, the Continental GT was the most technologically advanced Bentley in generations. At its heart lies Bentley’s first all-new engine since 1959, a twin-turbocharged 5998cc W12, paired with a six-speed ZF Tiptronic transmission. With a quoted 552bhp and 479lbft of torque on tap, plus Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive, the 2+2-seater GT was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in just 4. 8 seconds and a top speed of 198mph. Designed by Dirk Van Braekel, the GT strikes a perfect balance between muscularity and elegance. Equipped with sophisticated independent suspension and ventilated ABS disc brakes all around, the Continental GT proved an accomplished transcontinental express. Responsible for broadening Bentley’s appeal in a way no predecessor could match, its future classic status is assured.
First delivered as a dealer demonstrator to Jack Barclay in February 2005, this particular Bentley Continental GT is specified in the stunning Midnight Emerald paint, paired with a Cognac and Burnt Oak leather interior, complemented by Burr Walnut accents. Sitting on 19" Multi-Spoke, 2-Piece painted Alloy Wheels, this car was swiftly acquired by its first and only private owner, drawn to its fantastic colourway.
Highly specified from new, this GT features a 4-Spoke, Dual-Tone, Hide-Trimmed Steering Wheel, Deep Pile Overmats front and rear, and, unusually, Massage Seats. The car is equipped with a range of technological options, including ‘Coming Home’ Controls, a CD multichanger, NavTrak Provision, TV Tuner, a Telephone Docking Station with Hands-Free System and Cordless Privacy Handset, and Telephone Voice Control. The total cost of the vehicle when new amounted to £95, 957. 49.
Throughout its ownership, this Bentley has been meticulously maintained, with servicing carried out nearly every year. There are 16 stamps across both service books, completed by both main dealers and specialists. Included with the vehicle is the original Bentley backpack, containing both service books, a CD wallet, the owner’s manual, Bentley: A Motoring Miscellany by Nicholas Foulkes, and sundry documents.
With just 36, 250 miles from new, this one-owner, low-mileage Continental GT represents a rare opportunity to own a beautifully specified example in a highly desirable colourway.
