Description
HISTORY Created as an Italian answer to the German executive SUVs, the Maserati Levante is based on the Maserati Kubang concept, presented in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. After a strategic analysis by FCA on series production, CEO Sergio Marchionne decided that the SUV would be all-Italian, built on a platform not shared with a Jeep and with a Maserati engine. The Levante was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016, followed by the 2016 New York Auto Show. The Levante initially mounted Ferrari's 3. 0L V6 engine, in two states of tune. A diesel model was also offered, which was the only engine available for right-hand-drive markets from 2016 to the end of 2017, until the official announcement and introduction of petrol RHD models in mid-2017, starting with the Levante S and then the base Levante in 2018. The Levante has a drag coefficient of Cd=0. 33.
