Description
Today, the TVR Grantura is much more than a relic of the company’s early days. It embodies a bold philosophy where lightness and ingenuity outweigh brute power. Hand-built, capable of impressive performance, and deeply rooted in the history of motorsport, it continues to inspire enthusiasts of historic cars and racing alike.
The car we are offering for sale is a rare 1963 MK3 TVR Grantura (90 examples). We trace our TVR chassis #9/ 673(chassis number identified in the International TVR Grantura register) back in 1992 in the hands of Lothar Hachtkemper, who regularly entered it in historic races. In 1996, he sold the car to a German enthusiast who kept it for 10 years. It was through Mortensen that the car arrived in France.
In 2020 it was bought by its current owners, who entered it on numerous occasions in Peter Auto events: 2 participations in Le Mans Classic / GP de l'Age d'Or / Historic Racing Le Mans, etc.
The duo then embarked on a careful preparation programme to get this TVR back on track. The car was fully restored and optimised (numerous invoices on file):
- Completely overhauled 1853cc MGB engine + new engine head in March 2024.
- New prepared cylinder head, forged pistons, steel connecting rods and crankshaft, new piston rings, bearings, valves, chassis, running gear, brakes, shock absorbers, fuel tank, right-hand gearbox, Tillett carbon bucket seat, pull-out steering wheel, updated automatic fire extinguisher system...
Ready to race, this TVR has proved to be very reliable and a great performer to drive.
It has an FIA PTH valid until 2028, and its future driver will be delighted.
