Description
Extremely rare manual transmission car with overdrive. Beautiful example in Burgundy over Ivory with Ivory leather interior and the subject of a thorough and excellent restoration job in 1993 (32 years ago), but still in excellent, original condition. The Mark IX is a four-door luxury saloon car announced on 8th October 1958 and produced until 1961. It was generally similar to the Mark VIII it replaced, but had a larger, more powerful 3. 8 litre engine, 4-wheel disc brakes and power- assisted re-circulating ball steering among its mechanical refinements. Visually the early versions were identical in exterior appearance to the Mark VIII, except for the addition of a chromed "Mk IX" badge to the boot lid, later versions having a larger tail-lamp assembly with an amber section for traffic indication (as has this car), visually similar to the tail-lights of the smaller Jaguar Mark II. The Mark IX was replaced by the lower and more contemporary-styled Mark X in 1961. We have applied for a Jaguar Heritage Certificate for the car and can export to anywhere in the world. Jeff's Jags is a Jaguar and Daimler specialist based in SE Johannesburg, South Africa and we service, repair, restore and sell classic Jaguars and Daimlers of all ages.
