The 911/ 964 Turbo was introduced back in 1990 with the old 3. 3-liter engine carried over from its predecessor. It was not until three years later that Porsche chose to introduce a turbocharged version of the new 3. 6 litre engine for the 964 Porsche Clientele wanted more, therefore they revealed the 3. 6 Liter in 1993. This model only ran until the following year with less than 1. 500 cars built.
It quickly gained notoriety with a starring role in the movie Bad Boys where the 3. 6 is easily recognized by car enthusiasts with the beautiful Speedline wheels and red brake calipers.
The big difference is found underneath the rear bonnet: In true Porsche fashion the new engine developed more power and torque and had better driveability too, making the 3, 6 an even more serious sports car than its predecessor. Add to that the rarity factor and it is obvious why the 3. 6 turbo is so sought after by collectors and drivers alike.
This specific example is retaining its original and desirable Speedline wheels, which in today’s market is hard to come across. The car has always been loved and cherished by its owners and most importantly driven by the owners. It is currently displaying 99. 500 km only.
The 964 is among Porsche collectors generally considered to be one of the best 911 models ever made, with the elegant shapes that the 911 became famous and loved for. And adding to that a driving experience, which is both modern enough for everyday driving, but also gives you the analog feeling.
This includes a good shove of that fabled turbo characteristic: Driving the 3. 6 the engine is comfortable and tractable in the lower rev range, but a little below 4. 000 the turbo really kicks in and then you realize the actual power of this vehicle. This gives the 3. 6 turbo an exciting dual character as it spans from comfortable crusing to very fast bruising, making it a true allrounder thats is both usable as well as exhilarating and dramatic all at once.
On the specific car this is perfectly complimented by the colour, as the beautiful factory color Amazon Green Metallic is equally dualistic in character; This very special and rare colour takes on different shades according the the light: Under some circumstances it looks almost dark blue but in other conditions it will take on nuances torwards light green. It really makes the muscular curves of the wide turbo bodywork stand out and cruising along in the sun is sure to make people turn heads.
Amazon Green Metallic N7 was a special order color for the 3. 6-liter turbo making it almost impossible to tell exactly how many left the factory in this shade. But no doubt it was very few and therefore makes this 3. 6 even rarer.
The interior is the safer choice of black leather in the well known high quality of Porsche: In this car the interior is all original but is very well maintained and does not look anything like thirty years old nor of 99, 000 kilometers use. Instead it is an interor where the new owner will feel very well taken care of as he or she takes the car though its next 99, 000 kilometers of pure enjoyment!
