Description
Hello and welcome to the sale of this beautiful XJS-C.
This is a very rare vehicle and would most definitely have been a special order of a discerning petrol head in 1985! The combination of a 3. 6 engine, two tone coachwork, cream and red leather interior, full TWR styling kit and alloy wheels, topped off by the ultra rare and desirable manual gearbox, would be a challenge to ever replicate if you wished to find another.
The bodywork is in great condition for the age, it does show signs of having remedial paintwork carried out over the years with a few small imperfections here and there but overall presenting extremely well. All the sills and arches are in sound condition with no apparent rust issues. There is some evidence of minimal weld repairs to the floor pans which appear to be to a decent standard and certainly not a surprise to see on this model car at this age, and a good sign the car has been kept up together as required. There is nothing about the car that suggests it has ever fallen in to disrepair, or has required extensive restoration, and on the whole appears to be in a very original condition. The TWR alloy wheels are also in good order with good tyres. There is a superb large Jaguar 'Leaper' on the bonnet, and the rest of the brightwork is in great condition to match.
The interior is a particularly nice place to be, with a stunning colour combination which compliments the exterior perfectly. The leather, carpets, wood and trims are all in good order with minimal wear. The targa roof panels work as they should and are in good condition, as is the rest of the folding roof.
On the road it drives very well, with no apparent issues. Power delivery from the 3. 6 straight six engine is smooth and responsive, and the super rare 5 speed manual gearbox gives an extra element of control that an auto of the time just would not match. It pulls up square under braking and the steering tracks nicely, inspiring confidence on a spirited drive or a steady cruise. It shows an indicated 64, 000 miles on the clock, believed to be genuine although we cannot verify this as the service history has been misplaced at some time in it's past. The car has recently flown through a fresh MOT, and will be be serviced upon sale ready for the new owner to enjoy.
To sum up this is not a concourse winner, but a very nice, attractive, usable example of this super cool and super rare 80s icon that would grace any collection and we are sure the new owner will be very pleased.
Part exchange considered and nationwide delivery available.
