This one really is lovely, properly restored in the 1990's with the emphasis on original specification, the car has been well looked after and sparingly used since, to look at it, you would think it had been restored within the last 5 years!
Supplied new by University Motors in London, it has had 5 owners since.
Looking through the restoration paperwork and invoices from the early 1990's the restoration work was carried out by Kim Johnson Specialist Restorations of Whitney, Oxon.
The rebuild effectively almost produced a new car, virtually all exterior panels were replaced, front and rear wings, doors, bonnet, boot, inner and outer sills, front and rear valances, as well as all that there are invoices for virtually everything else on the car that could be renewed was renewed. Suspension, brakes, exterior and interior trim, all mechanical parts rebuilt or replaced, even the heater matrix was replaced!
The total cost of this was £11, 139. 30 which was not an inconsiderable amount in 1992 and the results are still holding up over 30 years later!
The owner that had all that work done, an architect from London bought the car in 1982 and it passed to his widow in 2016. It was then acquired by a gentleman in 2021 who recommissioned and serviced it, fitted new tyres and took it for its first computerised mot test after many years of careful storage, its mileage at this point was 65, 200.
There is a BMC passport to service which says that the mileage was 50, 500 in its last entry in 1978, then a few other entries in the paperwork that suggest it had done 64, 832 in 1997.
The recorded mileage is now just under 67, 400 which we believe to be correct given the history.
The current owner has enjoyed his time with the car but unfortunately has lost his dry storage, hence the sale.
The car still presents beautifully, with some very minor blemishes in the paintwork, as you may expect after 30 years, to drive it feels lovely and "tight" no rattles, clunks, bangs or crashes, pretty much as you think it drove like when new.
The car will be sold with a full service and new mot.
