History File - As the final chapter of the MGB story was unfolding in 1980, the Abingdon factory was far from following its usual routine. Our April 1980 built LHD example (chassis: GVVDJ2AG/ 515174) showcases this deviation from the norm. Ordered by German distributor Sigel Automobile in Pfullingen on behalf of Herr Hartmut Roth, it is believed by the Heritage Trust that this may have been a “take it or leave it” situation, explaining why a LHD US specification car was delivered to Germany. The September 1980 invoice confirms that Herr Roth took delivery of his new American specification car, which remained in his possession until 1997. With just four German owners in total, the car’s 41, 454 miles are well-documented through various invoices and German roadworthiness TÜV inspection reports. Now back on the market, this affordably priced example stands out as a bit of a survivor compared to other MGBs.
