EXTERIOR
Finished in gleaming Imola Red, one of the most sought-after E46 colours, this low mileage M3 looks magnificent against our studio backdrop. Having just been treated to a full detail and machine polish the paintwork presents with a fantastic depth of shine all round, free from any scuffs, scrapes or car park dings. None of the trims or rubber seals are showing any wear and all the lights are still perfectly clear. This facelift example is further equipped with the desirable hardtop option, perfect for those chillier winter months. The black soft-top is also pristine and operates smoothly at the touch of a button – it can even be lowered remotely using the key fob. All in all, a particularly fine example of the fast-appreciating E46 M3 in desirable manual specification.
INTERIOR
The black Nappa leather remains in wonderful order. The upholstery boasts a great factory texture and feel with no shininess or signs of major wear. The driver’s bolster is pleasingly scuff-free and the central armrest is like new; the rear seats also appear to have seen little use. Commonly scratch-prone areas such as the console switchgear and plastic trims all present really well. At the rear of the car you’ll find a pristine boot area housing the CD changer, tool kit, and wind deflector with storage case. Some nice factory options include heated seats, the Harman/ Kardon sound system, sat nav, electric folding door mirrors, and rear parking sensors.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Barely run-in with only 38k miles on the clock the M3 performs expectedly well on test. Its S54 engine is an iconic six-cylinder power plant and the 6-speed manual ‘box is surely the perfect complement. Clearly a cherished example from new, the car is accompanied by a great service history with six stamps in the book. The last service was carried out in May 2022 at 38k miles. Lifting the bonnet reveals an exceptionally clean and original engine bay with absolutely no signs of any damage or previous poor repair.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The forged 19-inch rims are entirely unmarked, their polished faces unblemished by any curb marking or lacquer damage. They are shod in matching Pirelli tyres all round; the fronts have 4mm of tread remaining and the rears are brand new having just been fitted at the current mileage. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition with plenty of meat left.
HISTORY FILE
This low mileage M3 was first registered in August 2004. Following on from the running-in inspection at 985 miles, services have been carried out at the following mileages: 10, 764 – 22, 680 – 28, 892 – 34, 806 – and most recently at 38, 718 miles in May 2022. Since arriving at 4 Star the car has been fully inspected by our trusted classic car workshop for the new keeper’s peace of mind. In preparation for sale we have just had new Pirelli PZero rear tyres fitted, and the differential input oil seal was also replaced. In the accompanying History File the lucky new owner will be provided with the original BMW document pack and all owner’s manuals, the stamped service booklet, a spare remote key, and the V5C showing 4 previous keepers.
