The Flag ship Mercedes Coupe of 1983
The Mercedes 280 CE was the most expensive of the w123 series, circa £45, 000 pounds. Which in 1983 would have bought a couple of houses.
Powered by the 2. 8 straight six engine, this classic Merc has plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic, pushing out 185 BHP (Which is actually 10 BHP more than its predecessor)
This particular model was in the same ownership for over 23 years, With the previous owner, It was always kept under the car port or stored in the garage. There is a good size history folder with the car and plenty of receipts of previous work undertaken. We also haver the original service book and car manual.
The paintwork on the car is good but does have some imperfections as you would expect from a car of its age. Also both rear arches have a small amount of rust coming through, this is a honest car and nothing is covered up. The work required on the rear arches is reflexed in the price.
It has had a fully rebuild head, with new Valves, Seals and head gasket. The engine work was done at a very reputable machine shop in the New forest and the level of work is excellent. At the same time the head was done, we also replaced:
New water pump
New Thermostat hosuing
New Thermostat
New Aux Belts
Oil and Filter Change
New Spark plugs
New HT Leads
New Distributor cap and rotor arm
New Battery
The brakes were also overhauled, with New front calipers, Discs and pads. Also the front right Hub was replaced (Genuine Mercedes part - RRP£220)
New MOT to be completed this week.
