Confirmed to be the 1948 Geneva show model by the NOC, this matching numbers 1948 Norton M30 International is in superb original condition; first paint and chrome. The International has a beautiful patina throughout.
Marked in the factory records as a “Show Model” with extra chrome. This International would have been sitting next to other Nortons from the 1948 lineup at the 1948 Geneva Show: Manx’es, ES2 and other models from the immediate post-war era.
The International comes with a factory records dating certificate from the NOC confirming all numbers and its destination as Geneva, Switzerland upon leaving the factory in Birmingham.
The engine turns over nicely with no undue noise. The engine was up and running about 10-15 years ago but as a safety precaution the engine should be rebuild. The gears select freely and smoothly and the kickstart crank is tight with no play. The petrol tank has a few small dents here and there but nothing that detracts. Inside the tank there is some light surface rust which can be removed with a thorough wash. The oil tank has oil inside it and is also well kept.
A mechanical restoration keeping the patina intact would be the obvious choice to maintain the unique originality of this Norton International.
The original long neck bronze Amal TT carb is still fitted and has beautiful, faded silver paint.
An exact replica of the 1948 two-piece rear mudguard specific to the International model has been fabricated with Vintage Steel in Australia. The original mudguard fitted on the bike had been cut in the past and an original was impossible to source.
Any other original parts missing were sourced over a number of years to make it a correct 1948 specification Norton International in original condition:

Original 7inch front hub complete with brake plate/ brake shoes etc.
Original Dunlop 21inch chrome rim together with correct spokes for building the original 21inch front wheel.
Original paint 480 Lucas rear light.
Original NOS Lucas horn and light switches
Original speedo cable.
