Built in Jaguar's glory days the iconic MK2 Jaguar loved by bank robbers and police alike.
Ah I hear you say but its only the 2. 4 litre, true but it is, wire wheels apart as it came out of Browns Lane in 1960.
So here we have an early car with recessed sun visors, pressed upper wishbones, pendant accelerator and smooth painted dash. The car was purchased about 7 years ago for light restoration as work was a bit slack, so work pics up and progress continued in fits and starts so I feel it's time to move it on before I run out of life!
As you can see from the pictures it is very original, the upper half still sports its original paint the lower half is however a bit challenged. The red areas are where new metal has been let in along with new N/ S splash shield, crows feet and N/ S/ F jacking point. The interior is in my opinion in exceptional condition the leather having no rips or excessive wear the carpets are original and still have the chassis no. chalked on the back. The brakes have been overhauled with new Zeus uprated callipers fitted to the rear however the front callipers had started to bind so a pair of brand new Zeus 4 pot callipers have just been fitted along with new pads (16/ 7/ 2022).
Also a reconditioned servo and hi torque starter motor earlier this year.
The Jaguar is now a driver however I have to say I'm not overly impressed with the Moss box ( very slow with long throws) so have obtained a rebuilt all synchro box available by separate negotiation should the new owner feel the same.
Whilst the original log book, service book, guarantee are with the car it would appear that the original owner did his own servicing but did not note the mileage however the way the car presents and runs I feel that the low mileage is correct.
I have now obtained 4 new old stock doors which have been prepped and primed ready for fitting the shuts have been also been painted in colour, these are available by separate negotiation although one interested party felt the original doors easily repairable.
