Description

Recently imported from Japan. this Toyota Corona RT40 is one of few original, virtually rust free and (as far as I can tell) never been welded examples.

It has its original Toyoglide Automatic gearbox. This is an early model, so it has the column shift along with its 1950's American style gear indicator. All gears engage fine, she changes up and down exactly as she should. No unusual noises.

She appears to have her original 2R engine, which runs well with no unusual sounds or smoke. Surprisingly fast and easy to keep up with modern town driving conditions!

The underside is very clean, undersealed, and solid.

The wheel arches all have their original factory edge, as do the doors and other panels. I have found no evidence of any welding or filling.

She was resprayed at some point in her life. This appears to be a while ago. The finish is presentable, but not show winning.

The paint is showing its age at the bottom of the rear pillars. There would originally have been badges here which I presume were lost, and their mountings skimmed over when it was resprayed at some point in time. There is no rust or welding to the pillars, but some cracking/ flaking of paint in these areas. It would have had 'deluxe' badges in this area when new.

The paint on the roof shows slight 'prickling' over its entirety. Presumably correct stopper wasn't used and it reacted with what was beneath, this didn't really bother me as it isn't particularly obvious - but it is there and please email me for detailed images. The paint on the bonnet, boot and doors is very good.

She has her original (autotuning?) radio which still works (short wave!)

She was fitted with air conditioning - however this has long since been removed. The glove box cover still retains the vents, which could easily be converted back into a glove box.

I imported this vehicle in 2018, when she received her first UK MOT and service. Its first journey was an 80- mile trip in the middle of winter and she completed it hassle free. Very good heater!

I used her for a year, then intended to do a little work which never happened. The rear light surrounds have been re-chromed, that was about it.

She had MOT advisories of tyres (all four are very old cross ply) and both steering joints having slight play.

The steering joints are readily available (they are still produced in Australia, along with many other wear and tear parts for these vehicles).

I have not replaced these or the tyres.

I haven't used this car since 2019 -The vehicle is tax except.

She will qualify for MOT exemption, but I didn't apply for this at the time of her first MOT as it didn't occur to me. MOT is now expired. I can get a new MOT put on for the asking price.

Please ask questions and for additional or specific pictures.

There are a few period Japanese stickers which add to character!

The interior is in very good condition - all seats and door cards, and head lining in good usable condition. No rips, tears or wear holes, but 1966 originals so faded in some areas.

The carpets are modern replacements.

I am happy to take any photos, videos and so on.
