The “Audax” Minx models were produced from 1956 until 1967, with various facelifts until the final body style shared between the series V and V1 arrived in 1965. These cars were lower and less-rounded than the early models and brought up to date with disc-brakes, all-synchromesh gearbox and suspension from the Super Minx. The series V cars were powered by the widely used 1592cc engine which produced 56. 5bhp.
This car is a November 1964 registered Minx in Azure Blue with matching trim. It was first registered in Edinburgh and it was subsequently sold to owners in Derbyshire and Nottingham before ending up back in Scotland. The mileage is correct at just 48, 000 from new as it has spent two periods in dry storage.
In 2020 it was treated to a comprehensive strip down and re-paint by Hunters body-shop in Falkirk at a cost of £4200 although pictures of the car taken a few years earlier show a beautifully original and solid car before the work. At the same time, the wheels were blasted and painted in Ermine White, new tyres were fitted and various other new parts were fitted including front discs and a new water pump. The rest of the car is in remarkable original condition, the underside is rock solid and original, the interior trim shows just light wear and the under-bonnet presents superbly. Completing the picture this outstanding car runs, drives and rides just as well as it looks.
This Minx is perhaps unique. The attractive colour Azure Blue was only available on the Series V cars and this is one of, if not the best we have seen with an immaculate body and beautiful original interior.
