Fully certified by the MFGB as a genuine model KR201, this is the rarest model of the messserschmitt range & known as the roadster.
528AUK is a fully restored example, & every part of the resoration has recieved painstaking attention from Messerschmitt specialists. For instance; H. Kampling renowned for his reconditioned Messerschmitt engine services. There is a file of invoices with the car totalling around £7000 which cover the engine rebuild & small parts used during the car's overall 2020 restoration. Over £5000 euros spent on the engine/ transmission alone & the £7000's worth of invoices mentioned do not even include extensive bodywork professionally undertaken in order to bring this car into perfect 'as new' condition.
A copy of the first owner's purchase invoice is also amongst the documents, alongside the paper MFGB certificate, & all chassis & engine numbers on the car are clearly visible to the naked eye. This is also the original colour in which the car was sold. A breathtakingly thorough restoration overseen by an extremely competent & well known specialist in the Messerschmitt fraternity.
The car always starts, runs & drives beautifully. The hood, side screens, wiring & electrical are all new, & a standard hood bag contains the soft top neatly in the rolled back position, or the hood & folding frame can be fully removed without tools . Upholstery is also new & the car is approaching, if not in concours condition, looking just as it was it was sold new in 1960. A brand new spare windscreen, spare wheel (mounted under the engine hood) & special messerschmitt jack are included in the sale.
There were no more than 300 of the KR201 roadster built,.... compared to the 41. 000 KR200s, making the truely surviving KR201s highly sought after. Nevertheless, spare parts are readily available in the UK from several reliable sources at very reasonable prices & with expert advice on the highly innovative design of these cars. Perhaps the best known mechanically innovative messerschmitt car's feature is the reversible engine direction which is engaged by depressing the ignition switch & turning in order to facilitate reverse.
