1957 Dodge Coronet "D500" Police Pursuit Cruiser 2 Door Sedan... 485-HP Hemi
325 Hemi V8, dual point distributor, double rocker arm heads, 4 barrel carburetor, cast iron medium riser 'tarantula' intake manifold, auto trans with push button shifter in dash panel. ????
1st shots are of car in field buried in weeds, some photos as i found it - i actually bought 3 other cars in this same farm field BEFORE i noticed THIS car.
I may have seen this car 2 or 3 times after a few cursory walk bys and glances, but the weeds were so high along the sides of the car that i had thought that it was a 4 door sedan - a body style which is highly UNDESIRABLE.
I never dreamed that this was a HEMI V8 CAR - until i opened the hood AFTER i paid for it...
then some shots of me 'digging it out', jacking it up out of the 4 holes it had sunk axles deep into, since it was parked here in 1975!
The dirt was bone dry... it shoveled like ASH, light n airy. the farmer said this area was a cattle pasture, so i guess the dirt had had alot of bs n piss in it over the years which may have leeched the clay and loam out, eh.
then, winching it onto me trailer out of the holes, after i got new tires (drove 2 hours each way for new tires!!!) mounted on rims and raised 1 axle at a time, high enough to bolt the wheels on.
While winching this dinosaur, i poured water n chocolate milk on the wood trailer bed as the wheels were locked and skidding at first. they busted loose and rolled after a while.
yes, i bought that lil '62 Chevy II 100 2 door sedan also. original paint, black with red interior car.
then, the last few pics after i de dusted the crusty hemi engine today, at the car wash.
the very last pic is the farmer lifting a donor car so we could get 2 wheels off of it for the '57 cop car.
This '57 Dodge Coronet D500 is a pretty rare car, being an ex-missouri state highway patrol car... it even had a 'gum drop' dome light screwed into the roof at the factory, the screw holes are still visible...
The primer on each door was area where MHP logo was removed before the cars were sold after patrol service duty expired.

this was a very fun field trip for me.
I head back there in a week or 2 to bring back another cow pasture "GEM"...
only trouble is, i have to CHOOSE which of 3 cars and 1 camp trailer that i want to bring home NEXT...
