All new Porsche vehicles are made to order but this example more so, with the extremely rare individual paint colour of beautiful Java Green Pearl. Interestingly, after years of Porsche cars in mundane colours, the Silvers, Black, Grey and Blue, Individual colours are once again on trend with Porsche, just as they were back in the 60’s through the 80’s and early 90’s.
This model was ordered shortly before the Millenium by a famous sportsman who represented England many times, for his wife’s personal transport. This beautiful example has a quite superb record of regular care and attention since new, All of the original instruction booklets and service record book are intact with 13 stamps from Porsche Main Dealers and Porsche Independents, I’d say from experience that nothing could be more important to anyone seeking a good example. It has averaged a fraction over 5, 000 miles per annum from new, and just 100 miles ago, this summer, I had the Porsche serviced by a qualified professional technician who understands these cars intimately. The car was carefully checked over and anything major or minor needed was replaced or attended to, including the major task of replacing the tiptronic gearbox transmission fluid at correct due mileage, not a DIY task and one which is so often neglected on many Porsche models. A fully successful MOT was completed at the same time and the car runs beautifully.
As a fussy and fastidious owner I have given this car other improvements which I believe it deserved, fully intending long term ownership. I replaced the original soft top which was showing signs of wear with a brand new Porsche electric hood with heated glass rear screen, fitted at a cost of £1, 000 earlier this year. It is magnificent and a joy to use in dry weather. The paintwork was already quite superb, except for some stonechipping to the front bumper and valance, so I had this professionally painted and have kept the car inside my garage under cover.
As an individual car it has a very good specification, firstly with the fully serviced Tiptronic gearbox, which suits the needs of many owners on the road today. The manual cars are generally for the more enthusiastic driver and often get driven harder. The tiptronic cars suit real traffic conditions for many, where relaxed automatic driving is often needed on busy or congested roads, but also offers the dual operation of manual mode to change gear manually on the steering wheel paddle (just like Lewis Hamilton and all F1 drivers) without the tedium of the (repetitive) depressing clutch and moving the gearstick up and down, - apologies to those who are ‘au faire’ with the ease of tiptronic driving!) . As well as the new electric heated hood, there is fully operating ice cold air conditioning (a must on these cars!), a fitted windstop (also a must) an onboard computer, a full and excellent unmarked leather interior ( not the half baked one), Porsche floormats, a Porsche Radio/ CD system, spotless 17” Porsche Alloy wheels and a private Boxster number plate that comes with this car together with its’ beautiful rare colour, and full, unique history.
If you love the timeless appeal of these classic Porsche cars, driving the classic free revving flat six 2. 5 boxer engine with hood down, and seek a really lovely example which has been cherished throughout its’ life by caring owners, this is a piece of Porsche history that will draw admiration wherever you go, I have 6 to 8 weeks to find him a new home, so interested parties may have some time, but I know the first to view and drive this particular car will take him away in excitement, just as I did. At my age, I know that we never really own classic cars, being simply temporary custodians who cherish and pass them on for the enjoyment of others when circumstances dictate. Please also remember that there are no official valuation guides on many cars at this age, especially classics, which are based upon Condition much more than anything else. This is especially true with Porsche, where Condition is paramount. Most experts know that models that have been carefully driven, modestly but regularly used and correctly serviced throughout, are likely to offer much more reliability than little used and relatively neglected cars which have skipped attention or had haphazard servicing.
