Audi TT Mk1, 3. 2 V6 Quattro DSG 2004
For sale with a heavy heart is my rare, stunning 2004, 3. 2Audi TT Quatro DSG. The car must be seen to be fully appreciated and is in truly outstanding condition. The loss of my car storage and a rationalisation means that, sadly the TT is now for sale (too many toys!).
The colour is the rarest of all – Papaya Orange (Special Order Colour) – which was the car colour featured in all the Audi Dealership posters and the marketing material and brochures / option lists etc. for the launch of the 3. 2V6 Quatro (I have copies in the history file). The rarity of this colour will be well known to VAG Aficionado’s and they very rarely come available for sale.
I am only aware of 2 other Papaya Orange 3. 2 TT’s in the last 18 months, one for £8, 000 which was withdrawn from sale because the collector-owner decided to keep it; and one for £9, 990 – which I went to see but didn’t like it because it was a little “unloved” with a patchy service history, and having been in a sea-side environment, was showing signs of blistering / oxidisation under some of the black anodised aluminium profiles around the windows.
By contrast my car is a real show-stopper and has been treated to important performance upgrades which mark this car out from the rest with shattering performance whilst maintaining – as far as possible - the standard look of the car. See details below.
The Mark 1 TT is the purest incarnation of the whole TT family and is a distinct and radical design that was a sensation when it was first launched in 1998. The top of the range 3. 2 V6 Quatro generating 247 BHP was launched in 2003 and was an immediate classic. The present-day TT is frankly a rather fat and stodgy A5 look-a-like (…in my opinion!).
My car has been enthusiast owned for much of its life and is in rare – almost -mint condition. Showing only 79, 000 miles from new (average of 5, 300 miles per year!) it had been maintained regardless of cost by recent owners and had lots of money lavished on it by me. I have a large and comprehensive history file with the car with details of servicing, work carried out and parts etc.
The car specification is as follows:

The performance upgrades / work that I have carried out on the car are as follows:
NOTE: all the work listed below has been carried out between June and December 2018 and, with the exception of the front and rear brake replacement, all carried out by The TT Shop in Luton – the foremost specialist in Audi TT’s in the country.:
• Full engine ECU re-map REVO stage 1 (+5-10% BHP)
• DSG gearbox ECU re-map REVO stage 1 (+5-10% BHP)
• Full service – oil, plugs, filters etc
• All 6 new ignition coil packs
• New Blistien coil-overs – front and rear and a very subtle lowering of the car – 20mm or so
• Pipercross hi-flow air filter
• New Scorpion sport free flow stainless steel exhaust (+10% BHP) – sounds amazing!
• New front shock brake line brackets
• New rear spring top-mounts
• New front suspension top-mounts
• New drop-links
• New front undertray (notoriously breakable and difficult to find)
• New shock upper and lower bolts
• Full laser alignment
• New rear lights (old ones were a bit hazy)
• Specialist polish of front light lenses
• Replacement rear parcel shelf
• Haldex oil change and filter change
• DSG service, filter and oil change
• Full dash pod / binnacle refurbishment (no missing lines on the LED matrix)
• All engine belts changed
• Rear brake discs and pads changed Nov 2018
• Front brake callipers, discs and pads replaced Dec 2018
The bills for the car during my short period of ownership total an eye-watering £5, 700 but I am probably a bit too fastidious with my cars! and to be fair I was not considering parting with it for may years.
Prior to my ownership (in July 2016) the previous owner had replaced the DSG Mechatronic unit with a genuine Audi part (£1500 for the part alone) not an aftermarket or refurbished unit. The mechatronic failure is a well-known weakness in the DSG box and the replacement is often a prohibitively costly job for these cars, so this is a huge bonus for this car having been replaced only a couple of years ago.
The interior is in absolutely superb condition, everything works, the radio controls are not “worn-white” and all the instruments function correctly – having had a full binnacle refurbishment only 3 months ago – again all carried out by The TT shop in Luton.
I’ve not had the car on a rolling-road but would estimate that the power increase is somewhere in the region of 50-60 BHP taking the cars power in to the early 300’s with a similar increase in torque. The drive is exhilarating and responsive, the power delivery is constant (especially in Sport setting), the gear changes (both up and down) are lightning-quick and smooth, and the braking is sharp and positive with no pulling on the steering. The car is a real Boxster / Cayman beater – from the same era, believe me!
