Here we have A Very Rare 1947 Nelco Solocar electric invalid carriage in full working order.
Advertised as the Rolls-Royce of invalid carriages in it's heyday - the Solocar was capable of a top speed of 20 mph
And could travel 35 miles between recharges and would turn within its own length.
One of the many boasts made by Reselco the manufacturer of the Nelco Solo car was that it would carry a 19 stone person up Porlock Hill in Devon, no mean feat even with today's technology !! T
These Surrey Made Vehicles cost a massive £280 New in 1950,
This Example was on show in the Ramsgate Motor Museum for many years which closed its doors in 2005
All Vehicles including this NELCO SOLOCAR were sold at auction shortly after.
'MXT 742' In RAF Livery Colours was the were given to wounded soldiers after there return from the War
The Nelco solocar were able to be completely operated by a Single Arm.
This Example is in good solid Shape. Complete and is Fully Functioning.
It now has 2 12V Modern Leisure Batteries underneath the seat in the battery compartment
One could say a tasteful upgrade to fit with modern day traffic :)
and now happily travels over 35 miles on a full charge.
