BMW Health Check Carried out on 09.10.23 by BMW Sytner Harold Wood - Full Clean Bill of health for that extra peace of mind and should allow potential buyers to bid with confidence knowing there won’t be any nasty surprises.
Being Pre-2006 registered it has escaped the recent increased ludicrous road tax - and the X5 is only £395 year just under £33 a month to roll around town in a monster shy of five litres.
The Appeal
Launched in 1999, the E53 platform BMW X5 shocked the car industry as BMW’s first luxury SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), although most people refer to it as an SUV. The X5 was a premium off-roader but with car-like handling characteristics said to be enhanced by the all-wheel drive system, putting 62 percent of the torque to the rear wheels, making it feel like a performance saloon. The performance wasn’t the only thing the X5 offered; the interior was luxurious with full leather, satellite navigation, and plenty of other creature comforts, making the X5 a pivotal point for moving the brand forward.
This lovely example, 2004 BMW X5 4.6is, is the high-performance sports version of the X5, released in 2001. The X5 4.6is features more bhp, 20” wheels, larger brakes, additional wheel arch trims and different front and rear bumpers; also available in Black, Imola Red, Titanium Silver and this wonderful Estoril Blue. The car comes with just over 55,000 miles and has an excellent service history, and aside from the main dealer who registered the X5, it has remained with the vendor from virtually new. The History and Paperwork
Registered 8th March 2004
Three keepers noted. One was a BMW dealer. The other two were from the same company (that was owned by the current registered keeper) but added an owner when the company changed names. This makes this car a one owner car for the last 19 years - something that is a rarity in these machines. This is illustrated in the exceptional internal and external condition of the this unique X5 4.6is.
Owners manuals present
Excellent service history with 17 service stamps in the book
MOT valid until March 2025
Exceptional MOT history as would be expected from a car of this caliber with amazing history and provenance
The paintwork around the X5 is excellent. There are a few small age-related chips in places which correspond with the mileage, but nothing for the age of the vehicle
There are no dings or dents, and the shut lines have an equal gap
Headlights and foglights are in good condition with no chips or cracks to the lenses
Privacy tint rear half windows
The windows all appear to be free from any noticeable scratches, and the seals are in good order
Roof bars fitted as standard
Plastic arch trims are in good condition with no scuffs or scratches
Side steps have little signs of use
Front and rear parking sensors fitted
Rear lights are in good condition with no damage
Twin exhaust pipes have a bright finish
Discrete tow bar fitted
Five-spoke alloy wheels have a few small age-related marks but present well
The tyres are Pirelli on the front and Michelin at the rear. These are all in good condition, with a good amount of tread remaining
It is a desirable, luxurious SUV which can easily be classed as a modern classic, especially the ‘is’ model. The X5 has an excellent history and has stayed with the vendor since buying it from the BMW dealer, who used it as a demo vehicle for a few months.
Costing over £47,000 when new, when you look at today's value, it certainly puts into perspective what a bargain luxury SUV you are getting for your money.
