The Appeal
The XKR is the ultimate derivative of the original Jaguar ‘X100’ XK8 sports car, with incredible performance, a shrieking supercharger, gorgeous looks and a wonderfully balanced chassis.
Launched in 1996, the model was the flagship of the range, initially with 370bhp from its 4.0-litre V8 engine.
This example is a 1999 Coupé in desirable Sapphire Blue, the colour and specification alone making it an attractive proposition. But there’s even more to it than that. Squint a bit, and you could mistake it for something a bit fruiter. That’s because of the Arden ‘Aero’ body kit fitted to the car when new – an expensive styling tweak courtesy of the German tuning firm, costing over £10,000 when new.
Arden is renowned for its work tuning and improving Jaguars, and as well as the body kit this example also has a sports exhaust system and sounds pretty incredible.
It’s finished in the classic colour scheme of Sapphire Blue with Oatmeal leather and polished dark walnut veneers, and is supplied with a full and comprehensive service history documenting a fascinating past.
If you want an XKR that’s a little bit different from the norm, then this one fits the bill – the Arden body kits were highly prized back in the day and today represent a rare and extremely unusual addition to a coveted modern classic. Low mileage, smart and with the benefit of a long MOT test, this is a great addition to any modern classic Jaguar collection.
