The Appeal

The gravel stages have honed and inspired many road cars, but few as great as Subaru’s brilliant Impreza. The original rally car trammelled the opposition and gave road-going buyers one of the most viscerally exciting and capable saloons of modern times.
Later cars evolved the concept, but the original mid-90s cars offer the purest iteration of Subaru’s vision. Thanks to the car’s sheer drivability, good, low mileage examples like this one are getting in very short supply.
It has the added advantage of being the more powerful Japanese-market Version II STI that lived on the island country’s salt-free roads before arriving here in 2021. It has been in the hands of the same elderly owner ever since and treated to a dry, heated garage when not in use.
The very low mileage of 110,281 kms (68,525 mile) is a further draw. As is the remarkable condition, its white paintwork and two-tone grey fabric interior wearing their 30 years very lightly. The car is cosmetically standard and runs only light modifications such as a Link G4 ECU and stainless steel exhaust.
The car comes to market with recent maintenance by a Subaru specialist and a long, advisory-free MOT to November 2025. The suspension and fuel tank were updated with new OEM parts less than 300 miles ago.
The vendor writes:
“The car drives like new. It is very tight, with no play in the gear linkage. It pulls well and has benefitted from the Link G4 ECU, by being mapped to UK spec fuel.
“For it's age, the car is in remarkable condition. No rust on the body and mechanically sound. The throaty engine note, from the stainless exhaust sounds great. The car was purchased as I always wanted a classic / GC8 Subaru Impreza and wanted a "clean" one with no rust, which is why I chose to buy this import. Having now reached the age where I have to give up driving, I have reluctantly decided to sell the car.”
