Highlights
- Completely restored, to a high standard, about ten years ago. It still retains its charm but time has slightly affected its appearance. It was garaged and used sparingly by the previous owner - a Volkswagen collector
- registered with the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI).
- The seller states that the vehicle is in good mechanical condition and ready to be used.
The Appeal
Isn't it fascinating that one of the most successful cars of all time, the Volkswagen Beetle, was so 'unconventional'? One might think that the key to a successful economy car is to use the 'usual', well-proven construction techniques and simple, already commonly used technologies.
On the contrary, Volkswagen gave us with the Beetle a car with a flat four-cylinder engine air-cooled in the rear (together with the gearbox) and a body completely devoid of straight lines. Strange as it seemed, the Beetle proved so popular that its production continued in Mexico and Brazil long after the Wolfsburg plant had started building Golfs.
Here at auction we have an example from 1982, produced in Mexico. The subject of a complete restoration some ten years ago and since kept as part of a Volkswagen collection, it is in fantastic condition and reportedly in excellent mechanical condition. Located in Sicily and complete with the required ASI registration, this Beetle is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
