Pre-bids

1981 Triumph TR7

Highlights

  • Nicely presented example of the much-loved TR7
  • Part of a private collection
  • Accompanied by a collection of spare parts

The Appeal

The last independently built Triumph sports car was perhaps the most stylish - and certainly the sportiest looking of the bunch. With its extravagant wedge-shaped styling, swage-line and pop-up headlights, there was a level of retro-futurism through and through when the TR7 arrived in 1974 - something that Triumph proudly boasted of being 'The Shape of Things to Come'.

In 1979, the hotly anticipated convertible hit the market, and swiftly became the stuff of legend, particularly across the pond in the USA, where the TR7 was particularly prized. The car's end only came about during British Leyland's rationalisation in 1981.

This fine example comes to us in a very attractive silver, with plenty of characterful decals and a small stock of spares. After a little mechanical work, this impressive sports car will no doubt prove to be a very highly prized classic.
