The Appeal
Some classic cars are preserved for shows and sunny days. Some, including this car, are thoroughly used and enjoyed. If the latter are properly maintained, that is great news for buyers. They get a reliable, well-maintained car that can be confidently used for virtually any journey.
This is just such a car. Classically finished in Old English White with a black leather cabin following an extensive restoration in the mid 1990s, it is a really good example of the Series 2 E-Type. It began life in the USA, before returning to the UK in 1990. It was converted to RHD during that earlier restoration.
The current keeper acquired it in 2011 and has clearly thoroughly enjoyed it. The car has clocked up 25,000 miles in the intervening years, including several continental and international tours. It sports some useful upgrades that suit regular use, notably a Sigma Fast Road Spec engine, 123 electronic ignition, power steering and even intermittent wipers. There is also a Brantz rally meter if you fancy some regulatory events.
Submitting a Historic Vehicle for voluntary MOT is always a reassuring sign. It also gives buyers extra transparency about the car’s condition. This car has an advisory-free MOT test to March 2026.
Usable and in great order, this E-Type also has some desirable upgrades that make owning and driving considerably more pleasant.
The vendor says:
“Used for many continental and international tours, never "failed to proceed. Engine is fast road spec.123 Electronic ignition. Original four speed box. The car has been maintained as required to keep it in top condition. Large history file.
“Good, reliable, useable E-Type to be enjoyed , leap in and go. I there was anything wrong with the car I wouldn't have kept it for 14 years.”
