The Appeal
Whisper it: the Daimler V8 may be the best version of the Mk2 you can buy. After all, these cars were the luxury alternative to Jaguar’s own car and featured Daimler’s brilliant 2.5L V8, designed by Turner.
For enthusiasts of touring and rallies, these stylish cars have the comfort, practicality, power steering and automatic gearboxes that make light work of long distances.
Classically finished in burgundy with a matching interior, this lovely 1967 example benefits from a £45,000 ‘no expense spared’ restoration some years ago. This work covered an engine and brake system rebuild, full retrim and an array of other improvements including new Webasto-style sunroof and rechromed bumpers.
That investment has held up very well. The usual check areas for these cars - sills, arches, panel edges and screen bases - all present well and inside it is well presented with excellent woodwork. This is a really lovely example of the best Jaguar that wasn’t a Jaguar.
