The Morris Oxford Series 3 was produced from 1956 until 1959 when the “Farina” versions arrived. Although nearly 60, 000 were built, only a handful remain here but in 1958 the rights were sold to Hindustan of India where the design stayed in production as the “Ambassador” for the next 56 years.

This car is a 1959 Morris Oxford series 3 in “Mandalay grey” over “Island Green” ...

The Rover P4 was produced from 1948 until 1964. Beautifully built, stylish, surprisingly slick to drive, they have always been thought of as a thing of quality but it’s easy to forget how the startlingly modern styling offended some conservative tastes in 1948. The P4 became widely loved and it’s testimony to the quality of the product and the devotion of Rover owners that the car remained in ...

The Riley 4/ 72 was produced from 1961 until 1969. BMC’s model hierarchy was complicated in the 60’s but the Riley versions, which combined luxury with increased power were usually the most expensive, in the case of the Farina, 20% dearer than an A60. Perhaps as a consequence they sold in smaller numbers, of the 550, 000 ADO38 models produced, just 14, 000 were 4/ 72’s.

The Oxford MKV1 “Farina” was launched in 1961 and was the last in the line of Morris cars to bear the name Oxford. In 1969, the Austin, Riley and MG versions were dropped but the Wolseley and Morris versions were kept on for two extra years. They were dependable and surprisingly good to drive but their robust nature lead to many being lost to the banger racing circuit. Today, these cars are something ...

The Morris Minor was produced from 1948 until 1971. Side-valve engines were followed by OHV engines, first 803, then 948 and finally 1100cc. The Tourer version was produced from launch until 1969 and was very popular, because it was a full four seat convertible. Interestingly, in the first few years of production, roughly a third of the Minors produced were tourers and today they have become quite ...

The GT version of the MGB was produced from 1965 until 1980. The body was styled in part by Pininfarina, no doubt as a result of the saloon car work they had carried out for BMC. The styling was very attractive and the addition of a small back seat and hatchback rear end made it surprisingly practical and a useful upward extension to the MG range. A little known fact is that the GT has a slightly ...

It was an advanced design with panels that bolted on to a base unit, disc brakes on all four wheels and de-dion tube rear suspension. The SC version was capable of over 100mph and quickly gained a reputation for strength and reliability – in the 60’s Rover struggled to meet demand; they aimed for production of 250 cars ...

The AJS Model 31 was produced between 1958 until AMC’s demise in 1966. The model was produced alongside the identical Matchless G12 and produced 35bhp allowing a 100mph top speed. Although they were as fast and as well built (some say better) as offerings from BSA and Triumph, they never quite achieved the same level of desirability – which has made them something of a bargain today.
