Steve Baker MG

1950 MG TD

One owner since 1979. Original UK registration. Factory replacement XPAG engine.

For sale from the estate of an enthusiastic owner & long term club member.

Restored some time ago, but still a very solid and useable MG TD ready to reward the next owner.

Engine runs well with good oil pressure, the gearbox is nice and quiet in all the ...

Fitted with a genuine, rebuilt 1939 MG TB engine and gearbox, unmodified TB chassis and axles.

This car has been subject to a total restoration and only lightly used since.

The bodywork is all bespoke aluminium in the style of Nuvolari's K3 racecar.

A TB with this type of bodywork has previously entered Mille Miglia and the Gran Premio Nuvolari.

A ...

I was offered this car at the beginning of the year and felt it was too good to refuse.

I bought it from the family of the original owner, who had amassed ~21, 000 miles in the first 6 years of ownership and only 2, 500 in the next 18(!!). The current mileage is very low sitting below 24, 000.

My first move was to have the car collected from storage and taken to Trophy ...

A rare car indeed, on it's original registration this 1939 MG TB was supplied new to Lancashire Police. This makes it one of only 379 MG TBs ever built and one of only 18 MG TB police cars. The TB is particularly desirable as a rally car and is eligible to a number of popular events including of course the Mille Miglia.

Very much an oily rag car but in mechanically sound condition. ...

A fantastic basis for someone to build themselves a six cylinder MG special.

Sold with a lightweight K3 'skimpy' style aluminium body per MG K3001 (currently being fitted).

Body consists of: tub, tank, bonnet, dashboard and front valance only.

Sold with an N-Type engine in need of rebuild but it turns freely and has a brand new cylinder head with it.

Rebuilt ...

This is an abandoned restoration, the chassis has been powder coated and the car benefits from a new ash frame (have a look at Moss price £4, 000 unassembled) and re-chromed windscreen frame. New wheel cylinders and stainless steel master cylinder fitted, king pins sorted, new poly bushes for springs, wheel bearings etc.

All of the panels are with the car, as is in the tinwork for the ...

A fantastic project if you want to build yourself a competitive MG TC racer or maybe just a cafe cruiser. Purists look away now.

The body tub has been custom made without door openings, giving extra rigidity and skinned in aluminium for reduced weight.

The engine is the desirable Wolseley (XPAW) unit (stronger block and crank) but comes with an MG sump and a standard TC gearbox.

She ...

A rare numbers matching survivor which will make a fantastic candidate for restoration.

The car is extremely complete and the numbers match throughout; even the dynamo, springs and starter motor are date stamped!

The wood frame requires work but is in very good condition, as are the panels. Considering the age she has survived remarkably well.

Those of you in ...

At a glance you'll be hard pushed to recognise this one as an MG TA.

The car was totally rebuilt by us (Steve Baker MG) in the style of a factory K-Type race car.

It is fitted with a hand made lightweight aluminium body which was made to measure on the chassis.

The running gear is all correct MG TA, an original chassis, axles, springs (roped), handbrake, ...

Here's a chance to build yourself something a bit different!

This is a 1948 MG TC chassis with original axles, brakes, steering etc. all complete (not pictured).

I will also include an XPAG engine (with ancillaries) and gearbox for restoration, original type radiator and shell, a pair of TC headlamps and a TC differential.

The panelwork is a complete Compound ...

As you'll see from the photos, a bit of sorting out is required. I have here a fully dismantled MG TC restoration project.

For the avoidance of doubt it has good front and rear wings, bulkhead, radiator and shell, engine and gearbox, axles, handbrake, five wheels, bonnet, differential, windscreen, wiper motor, all gauges, stub axles, scuttle, hood frame, seats, steering components, ...

Not one for the feint hearted, this MG J1 salonette is a rare survivor. I only know of a couple of others in the world.

Clearly she has seen better days, fitted with the correct J gearbox but mated to a Ford engine (common conversion).

Has some parts you very rarely see, the original windscreen is in tact and she has the correct Rotax headlamps.

I imagine if ...

MG TC chassis number 6922, built 27/ 10/ 1948.

Not a numbers matching car I'm afraid but she is fitted with a correct (and complete) early TC engine #1899.

A very complete project comprising of good quality panels and a restored body tub with new timbers where necessary.

The panel work is complete and in good condition, the doors will need to be fitted ...

A numbers matching (chassis/ engine) 1934 MG NA with the original axles and brakes.

The aluminium panel work was built on the chassis in the style of the Earl Howe Mille Miglia K3.

The radiator was made to suit, along with a copy of a factory K-Type radiator shell (as fitted).

It is fitted with a rebuilt (Tom Dark) Armstrong pre-selector gearbox with K3 remote ...
