You’ll be pleased to know that selling via a classified advert is free! You manage your own sale, payment and transfer and it won’t cost you a penny.
Auctions and offers
When it comes to selling, we offer multiple auction packages to suit your requirements. If you do make a sale via auction, or by accepting an offer, we charge 6% + VAT or a minimum fee + VAT, whichever is higher. To put that into context for you our minimum fees are:
- Cars - £600/€600 + VAT
- Bikes - £500/€400 + VAT
Escrow is a secure payment system on our auction platform designed to protect both buyers and sellers. It refers to a neutral third party that holds funds before they are transferred from one party in a transaction to another. This third party holds the funds until both buyer and seller have fulfilled their contractual requirements.
In our case, funds generated from an auction sale are held in our secure third-party account that is separate from Car & Classic to guarantee 100% payment protection and are only released once both buyer and seller are happy and the buyer confirms they have received the vehicle.
If a buyer sends you an offer that you accept, they will be sent an email confirming their purchase. You will be given a notification when they've transferred the payment into our secure escrow account. The money is held in this account until the buyer has collected the car. Then we will release the payment to you and it is sent to your bank account via bank transfer. The length of time it takes the transaction to clear is dependent on the country your account is based. It will take up to 1 business day for UK to UK transactions and between 3-5 business days for UK to EU or EU to UK transactions. If your handover happens on a weekend, your bank will process the transaction on the next business day.
Both the buyer and the seller will be asked to confirm the vehicle handover has taken place and when both parties are happy the funds will be released from our secure account and sent directly to you. Kerching!
Transfers are only made on weekdays and the funds should clear within one business day for GPB bank accounts and three to five business days for EUR accounts. If the vehicle handover takes place on a weekend, the payment will be set up but won’t clear until the next business day.
