The Appeal
Launched in 2013, the Black Series is a track-focused version of the SLS AMG supercar. With a mighty 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 pumping an almost unbelievable 631hp to the rear wheels, gullwing doors and a striking cab-back, long-bonnet design, it remains a sought after and desirable machine.
Finished in a distinctive white and black scheme, this example is presented with low indicated mileage and a high specification. It benefits from smart leather and Alcantara upholstery, as well as carbon fibre trim inside and out. There appears to be some disagreement over the exact production numbers but we believe it to be one of between 50 and 350 examples, which makes it an exceptionally rare and valuable machine.
As with all of Mercedes-Benz 'Black Series' cars, it is the most aggressive, hardcore expression of the model. Having put the standard SLS AMG on a bit of diet, adding a lightened Titanium exhaust, carbon ceramic brakes, active rear differential and a unique aerodynamics pack, it is as close to their contemporary GT3 car as you can get from a factory road car. Mercedes-Benz even upped the power to 631hp while restricting the torque slightly to 635Nm (468lb-ft) to ensure the car remained drivable.
If you're after one of the world's rarest, most collectible and most capable performance machines, then this should definitely be on your list.
