The Appeal

Every new 911 is set the twin tasks of living up to and exceeding expectations. On both counts the 997.2 of 2011 delivered. Reviewers were quick to confirm that the revised model delivered the visceral thrill that any trip in a 911 is legally required to provide.
For those who like their 911 experience dialled firmly up to 11 there was the scintillating Turbo S. All wheel drive helped plant the 552bhp on the tarmac and reel in the horizon like few other cars. 60mph arrives in a barely believable 2.9 seconds.
With just two owners from new this well specified, low mileage Turbo S comes with the reassurance of a full Porsche main dealer service history. It has just returned from its last visit where £11,000 was spent making sure it is at the level that any discerning buyer expects. If second best is simply not good enough then this impeccable car is surely for you.

  • 21st March 2018 at 38,667 miles
  • 22nd June 2023 at 44,659 miles

The Interior

  • Tastefully specified black leather interior with smart aluminium highlights and white faced dials
  • High specification includes Bose sound system, sat nav, climate control, parking sensors and cruise control
  • Heated and ventilated sports seats with electric operation and memory function
  • Leather topped dashboard and centre console
  • Sport Chrono Package
  • Rear seats that double as additional storage if required
  • Front boot
  • Porsche branded over mats
The appeal of the 911 surely lies in its evolution rather than revolution approach to development. This means that the thoroughly modern interior of this 2011 example is clearly linked to the original 60s cars. This is most evident in the iconic curve of dials ahead of the driver but the ethos of simplicity and ergonomic control also applies, the controls avoiding unnecessary flourish just like the first cars.
This car was well specified from the factory, its charcoal black interior enabling the aluminium highlights lightly to tastefully accented the interior. As you would expect the specification is very high and includes Bose sound, heated and ventilated seats with memory function as well as climate and cruise control. The dashboard is leather trimmed, which also covers the door cards and centre console.
There are two small rear seats that can be easily converted to extra storage, just like every previous generation of 911.
This car is approaching 12 years old but there are barely any signs of that inside. In part that reflects the quality of the fittings but also the care of the long term owner. Even the oft-used touchpoints such as the seat bolsters display only the lightest sheen of wear.

There is some very minor age related wear and tear however nothing that one would not expect and truly shows the level of build quality. One could argue that the only real noticeable sign of use is very minor and restricted to the driver’s side plastic sill covers which are very lightly scuffed. But these do not detract from an otherwise excellent cabin.

The Exterior

  • Excellent black metallic paintwork with 19in polished rims and yellow callipers
  • Some light stone chips to the vulnerable rear arches but otherwise no visible marks
  • Michelin tyres with plenty of tread, brand new rear tyres
  • Alloy wheels in very good condition with only very light areas of tarnish on one rim to note
  • Optional useful wind breaker
  • Bi-Xenon headlamps
  • Electric roof in very good condition and works correctly and at speed
With a car as capable as the Turbo S black seems a particularly sober yet wise choice, carefully downplaying the visceral ability of this car. It has been nicely specified, the black bodywork accented by the 19in alloy wheels and their discreet yellow brake callipers.
As you would likely expect from a car with such a well kept interior, the bodywork is in very good condition. The only signs of use are some very light stone chips on the rear arches, an unfortunate risk with a car bearing such wide rear haunches. It is not unsightly and does not detract from the overall effect.
Elsewhere the car shows clear signs of care, the large 19in alloy wheels being unmarked.

The Mechanics

  • 552bhp 3.8litre flat six twin turbo Porsche engine
  • All wheel drive
  • 7spd PDK Porsche gearbox, highly rated by reviewers
  • 0-60mph in 2.9secs
  • Full Porsche main dealer service history
  • £11,000 just spent at Porsche main dealer to bring the car to a high standard for sale
Sport Chrono Package:

  • Driver selectable modes
  • Launch control
  • Motorsport-inspired gear shifting
  • SPORT response
  • Interior upgrades including chronograph on the dash top
  • Dynamic transmission mounts to reduce vibration and tramp

The business end of this Turbo S is quite something.  Continuing the tradition of flat six power, in this case with 3.8litres, the twin turbos help propel the power to a heady 552bhp.  All wheel drive keeps things planted while the clever PDK 7spd gearbox, one of this car’s greatest features, puts the power through to the wheels.
This car also has the optional Sport Chrono package which adds a whole range of extra driving modes and features as well as improved transmission mounts to reduce vibration.
With all that technology at work it is reassuring to know that this car has full Porsche main dealer service history, most recently in July 2023 with only 30 or so miles covered since.  To prepare the car for sale to the highest standard the vendor invested £11,000 in the mechanicals with Porsche in the same month.

Summary

Other car makers have tried but none has ever managed to knock the 911 off its perch. If you want a super car you can use every day there are few alternatives. The 997.2 made an already near-perfect car even better while the Turbo S took the performance into the realm of the barely believable.
This Turbo S adds the versatility and joy of a convertible roof to a compelling package. With impeccable service history this well specified car has also been carefully readied for sale. We expect this one to be in high demand.
