THE APPEAL

Unveiled to the world in 2003, the BMW 6 series was available as a coupe or convertible. The reaction from consumers was astonishing as it was the first time in over 10 years BMW made a GT car since the 635CSI. Available with a host of different power and drivetrain options, it was BMW fanatics couldn’t get enough of it.

This particular example makes use of the straight-six 3.0 engine that produces 254bhp and would hunt down 62mph in 6.5 seconds, 0.9 seconds slower than its V8 counterpart but consumes much less fuel, achieving approximately 30 miles to the gallon.

Very well presented interior cabin finished in black Dakota leather.

All the sports seats present incredibly well, with no wear marks on either of the bolsters on both seats.

All the interior features are said to function as they are intended including the CCC iDrive.

The fine wood trim stands out against the black Dakota leather.

The door cards, carpets and headlining look nice and show no signs of wear.

As far as we are aware, all the electronics within the vehicle are said to function as they were intended to do so.

This 6 Series has a plethora of optional extras including electric heated memory seats.

The sports steering wheel reflects the general condition of the interior with no cracks or wear marks to report. The paddles on the back of the steering wheel also look great.

THE EXTERIOR

The Space Grey metallic paintwork looks good in the light.

The badges on the front and rear of the car are in great condition.

There are a few marks to be found on the front of the car with the most obvious being marks on the offside and near side on the front bumper.

The bodywork appears to be straight with no signs noticed of anything untoward.

There are no dents to report.

The convertible roof opens and closes exactly as it should do with no hesitation or unwanted sounds coming from any of the roof motors.

The alloy wheels reflect the condition of the car with no curbing or scuff marks to report.

The head and tail-lights are clear with no signs of misting.

THE MECHANICS

The 3.0 straight six engine sounds amazing. Idling beautifully well with no smoke or unwanted noises.

The automatic gearbox is smooth when changing gears. This 6 series is also fitted with the optional sports transmission and responds well. The kick down works as intended.

The engine bay is presented well showing no signs of oil leaks.

The car drives well, the automatic gearbox selects gears graciously with no knocks or crunches.

All the service indicators are green indicating this vehicle has been looked after with no upcoming services or inspections.

SUMMARY

Looked after by main dealers and independents throughout the years, this BMW 6 series is a fine example of a modern-age grand tourer.
