  • Complete with lots of invoices and a full, seven stamp service history
  • Serviced most recently in January 2024, around a mere 2,000 miles ago
  • Car will be sold with a Fresh full MOT which will conducted on the 31th of August prior to sale, maintaining the yearly anniversary.

The Appeal

The Porsche 911 in 997 form arrived on the scene in 2004 to become the sixth generation of the company’s perennial world beater. Many of the changed between its predecessor, the 996, and this model were styling related, but an S version was now available which provided an additional boost to its already dramatic performance.

This fine example is a high specification Carrera 4S Cabriolet version. As such it boasts the more powerful 355bhp version of the flat-six boxer engine as well as the confidence inspiring permanent four-wheel drive system. This car is fitted with the five speed Tiptronic gearbox which strikes an appealing balance between the convenience of an automatic whilst still offering the driver a high degree of involvement and control if desired.

The History and Paperwork

  • This example was first registered in June 2007
  • Subsequently this car was used and enjoyed by four previous owners
  • The fourth owner was a long-term custodian having retained the car for eight years
  • The current owner acquired the car in January 2024 to become the fifth keeper
  • At that stage the 911 had covered around 70,000 miles
  • The current owner has only added around 2,000 more in their ownership
  • On average to date the 997 has averaged around 4,000 miles a year
  • The car comes with a good level of paperwork
  • This includes the all-important service book
  • This documents 7 service stamps in total
  • Brake fluid change stamps and body guarantee stamps are also noted
  • The current V5 is on-hand in the name of the owner
  • So is the current MOT in hard copy
  • This is an advisory free test and is valid until September 2024
  • Numerous previous MOTs appear be present
  • A number of invoices are included which provide the details and costs behind the service stamps
  • The comprehensive Porsche book pack is on hand
  • Two original Porsche keys are included

The Condition

  • The 997 presents in the popular GT Silver Metallic (LM7Z) paintwork
  • The condition of paintwork and bodywork looks great overall
  • Inevitably the odd chip and scratch are in evidence but minor in nature
  • S cues like the quad exhausts and red finished callipers are all in evidence
  • This Carrera’s interior trim code is BK for black / stone grey
  • It is a very recognisably 911 cabin with a fine fit and finish
  • The condition is excellent throughout with plenty of high-quality leather in evidence
Our car presents in bright and lustrous GT Silver metallic paintwork which appears to be in great shape for a seventeen-old car. The 19-inch Porsche 997 “Turbo II” alloys feature a black and diamond finish with no dings or kerb rash in evidence. The wheels are shod with a mixed set of quality Pirelli P Zero and Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The open spoke design of the wheels allows sight of the S style, red finished, Porsche emblazoned callipers and cross-drilled brake discs. The black fabric hood looks to be in an unmarked condition and benefits from the heated, glass rear window.

The cosy interior of the 997 managed to improve on that of its predecessor whilst retaining the marque’s familiar DNA. Our car is trimmed in soft, grey and black leather with just the right amount of “used and enjoyed” patina. The high-backed “tombstone” seats are arranged into horizontal padded panels and look to be in a fine condition with no obvious imperfections. The seats are electrically adjustable, and three-stage heated and are finished with smart, composite back panels

The Mechanics

  • This 997 is the S version with the enlarged 3.8L 355bhp flat six boxer engine
  • Power is fed to the rear wheels via the five speed Tiptronic gearbox
  • Steering wheel change toggles are provided for those wishing to take control
  • This 911 benefits from a full, regular and diligent service history
The combination of the bigger S specification engine, surefooted permanent four-wheel drive and the respected Tiptronic-S gearbox makes this an impressively configured 911. With 355bhp on tap the Carrera S4 Cabriolet boasted a five second 0-60mph time and a top speed in excess of 170mph.

Perusing the photographed service records and accompanying invoices will reassure any new owner that this Porsche has been impeccably and regularly maintained. The last service was less than 2,000 miles ago in January 2024.Both the engine-bay and underside presentation look reassuringly positive, further pointing to a well-cared for and well-maintained example. No known mechanical issues have been reported and a shade over 71,000 miles should prove a mere trifle for the 997’s bullet-proof mechanicals.
