The Appeal

Like the 911 amongst sports cars, the Cayenne transformed the SUV market. There had been luxury offroaders before, but none mixed the performance and agility of a Porsche with the luxury of a Range Rover.
The first generation cars were therefore a revelation. Equipped with sonorous 4.5L V8s delivering the 60mph dash in sports car fashion, the Cayenne remains popular with those who like Porsches but have families, luggage and perhaps a pet or two.
This low mileage Cayenne S wears its 18 years very lightly indeed. Finished in an understated combination of dark grey metallic over black leather, it is highly preserved and a testament to the quality of those Porsche materials.
It has been carefully maintained too, a run of service work that includes a recent full service a few days ago before listing. Add in a long MOT to April 2025 and you have a capable and very smart addition to any enthusiast’s driveway.

All eyes were on Porsche at the 2002 Paris Motor Show when it launched its first step into a brave new world – one that has seen it build all manner of cars from small off-roaders to electric saloon cars since. But back in 2002, the idea of one of the world’s best-known sports car makers building anything but a coupe or roadster was unfeasible.

Porsche had never been there before, and it wasn’t aligned with the brand’s heritage. Enter the Cayenne – the first Porsche SUV, the first with a V8 engine since the 928 and the first with off-road capability since the company built tractors in the 1950s. It was initially offered only with those V8 engines, normally aspirated and turbocharged, to ensure that it lived up to Porsche’s performance promise. This one – now regarded as one of the most important Porsches of all-time - is a really smart example of the high-spec 4.5 V8 S derivative presented in impeccable order
