The Appeal
The first generation of Mercedes-Benz's mid-range CLS-class, the C219, was far more refined and luxurious than one might have expected from its market position. Its innovative low-roof styling and powerful host of engines were bound to resonate with the world, and quickly became one of the highlights of the Mercedes-Benz catalogue, one that's still continuously praised two-decades later.
This was an era when the lads at Merc' were prioritising plenty of trendy tech in their cars, leaving some of their stuffier, more angular designs in the past as they strode into the 21st century, and the resulting cars have aged remarkably well - still feeling sleek, modern and capable.
