The Appeal
The Azure was - and is - for those who value the very best. Based on the superb Continental R, the first bespoke Bentley for a generation, the 385bhp turbocharged Azure is to land what a luxury yacht is to water.
Naturally exceptionally expensive when new, just 612 of the first generation model reached lucky buyers. This is one of only 131 built in 2000. It is the elevated Mulliner specification. That adds an extra layer of bespoking, evident in the stand-out white over tan colour scheme.
The car began its life in Florida before moving to Germany and then arriving here in 2019. It has passed through the hands of two keepers since it came to these shores. It is an exceptionally low mileage car with just 48,000 miles from new. The condition is commensurate, indicating the high level of craftsmanship in the factory and the careful use by its owners.
The history file shows regular servicing, most recently by a UK Bentley specialist in 2022. For those seeking the ultimate in four-seater open top conveyance, these cars come to market rarely and this looks like a good one.

- Lambswool over rugs are very clean and presentable, as are the tan carpets
It is clear from this Azure that at least some of the joy it delivered to its first owner was the opportunity to bespoke the interior. As a Mulliner car it benefits from an exclusive colour scheme and an array of hand-crafted features including the lovely inlaid wood veneers.
Throughout the exterior and interior, the light use over its 24 years is evident. There are few signs of use, giving the buyer a car much as it must surely have appeared when it left the showroom in July 2000.

The Continental R showed the way. Beneath the bespoke trimmings, the Azure shares the same turbocharged technology as its coupe sibling.
But this is not a car intended to be driven that way. It is far more suited to relaxed, sedate progress. This low mileage car appears to have been enjoyed exactly that way, the history file showing regular attention by main dealers and specialists during its time in Florida, Germany and UK. The last service was by a marque specialist in September 2022 at 71,647 kms.
