Three decades on from the DB7’s launch, it’s really come of age and is without doubt one of the most tempting modern classic GTs on the market. This 1997 example is particularly appealing. The supercharged 3.2-litre AJ6 straight-six and four-speed automatic gearbox are ideally suited for comfortable Continental touring, and in this understated colour, this car exudes style and sophistication. With low mileage for its age and well-documented Aston Martin service history, it’s clearly been cherished.
The vendor reflects on their custodianship: “ It just wafts along in smooth silence until you unleash the supercharger which, when engaged, causes a smile-inducing euphoria that is hard to subdue.”

The Condition
- Onyx Black paintwork - the vendor states it’s more of a slate grey to look at with an attractive metal flake
- This Aston Martin presents very well for its age, with good panel alignment, even door shuts and smart paint
- The vendor points out some superficial clear coat blemishes in a couple of isolated areas - but this is hardly noticeable
- The OEM alloy wheels do not appear to show any kerb damage
- The underside looks in sound order, with a smattering of surface corrosion in a few areas
- The cabin is particularly well-preserved, with minimal signs of wear
- The grey leather upholstery looks to be free of rips or notable stretching
- The carpets only appear lightly worn
- The highly figured and brightly polished woodwork continues to gleam as it did in 1997
- We’re not informed of any apparent faults with the cabin electrics/systems
The Mechanics
- 3,239 cc supercharged straight-six
- Four-speed automatic gearbox
- Cobra 7918 Alarm/immobiliser system
- In July 2023 it was serviced/recommissioned by Christopher Jackson
- It has full AM history up to 81862 - up until its recommissioning
- All switches, buttons, dials, doors, windows, locks, central locking, alarm, all work as they should, the car holds good charge in the battery, it also has a six-disc multi changer in the boot
- New Toyo tyres fitted at time of MOT
- Spark plugs changed
- Oil levels maintained throughout current ownership
- The vendor reports a slight weep from transmission oil cooler line and points out an override switch on the blower motor in situ
- The vendor reports that it drives superbly - equally happy to cruise at low speeds as it is to thunder along at full chat
