The Appeal
They called it the Japanese Mercedes-Benz, but Toyota’s original LS400 was really much more than that. It was engineered to be the best executive car in the world - that it toppled the German firm’s hegemony at the same time was collateral damage.
We’re reminded of all that when we look at this well preserved facelift LS400. It is a very low mileage car that has spent its life to 2024 on Jersey, where it was always garaged by its three keepers. During its life it has amassed 25 service stamps, 23 of them by main dealers. The last service was in June 2024. The alternator was replaced in 2023 and cambelt and water pump in 2024.
This is a very good example of a superlative saloon. The vendor describes it as ‘mint’ - it certainly looks close - and it carries a long MOT to June 2024. Usable, luxurious classics don’t get much better than the LS400.
