Stand-out lightweight C4 with potent 300bhp LT1 V8
The Appeal
There’s the C4, one of the greatest versions of America’s sports car ever built. And then there’s the Pace Car version.
The Pace Car was used at the Indianapolis Raceway in 1986 and 1995. To celebrate the latter, Chevrolet built 527 C4 factory replica cars. This isn’t one of them: it is the one you really want - a genuine Pace Car as used at the Indy 500. It is car 50 of the 59 used on the Race Track Parade for the 79th Indianapolis 500 on 28th May 1995, assigned to Jeff Belskus the CEO of the raceway. These details have been confirmed by The Pace Car Registry.
The car’s subsequent life has been extremely cosseted. With just 4,576 miles showing on the digital odometer, it remains in superb, highly original condition. It retains all of the exclusive features that make these models stand out. That includes the two-tone paintwork and interior, decals and stitched headrests.
It was imported to the Netherlands in 1996 and from there to the UK in 2005. It has had just one keeper in the last 19 years. This highly collectable car is in museum-quality condition and will turn heads wherever it goes, much as it surely did on that day in May 1995 at the Indianapolis.

This is a Corvette that doesn’t hide its light under a bushel. And why should it - it was one of the Pace Cars for the Indy 500. When you’re buying a car that goes all out, you want the stuff that goes all out to still go all out - this car certainly does exactly that. The condition is quite remarkable for a car approaching its 30th birthday.
Inside and out you will find all of the exclusive features that make the official Pace Car models so distinctive. The level of detail extends to the side decals referencing the event on 28th May 1995 and even the number ‘50’ sticker that was unique to this car on the Race Track Parade. Usually, such details get lost over time. Not here.
This car is about as close to a showroom-fresh C4 as you’re likely to find. As such it would be the perfect addition to an American-themed collection.
The Mechanics
5.7L LT1 300bhp 350CI V8
4spd automatic gearbox
Factory fitted with rare traction control
0-60mph in under 6secs
ABS fitted
Rack and pinion steering
Very low documented mileage
No reported running or driving issues
No mechanical or running gear advisories on the current MOT
There are good reasons why the C4 was chosen to be the Indy 500’s 1995 Pace Car. For starters, the Corvette is America’s sports car and the C4 was one of its best iterations. Then there is the pace part - with 300bhp on tap and 60 mph arriving in under 6secs, these are certainly sprightly cars.
The Pace Cars were largely factory standard, but with the addition of traction control, a feature that didn’t arrive on the standard C4 until some years later. This car has been very sparingly used, covering less than 4,600 miles in its 29 years. The result is a car in very good mechanical order - it’s barely run in - that could be simply enjoyed as a hugely entertaining LT1-powered V8 or merely spared and savoured as it has been for its life to date.
This C4 has a long, advisory-free MOT until August 2025, so it is ready for you to use however you wish.
