The Attractions

Built to beat the Germans in their own field, the Alfa Romeo 75 was born to challenge models like the BMW 3 Series. As its name suggests, it was born to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Milanese company and was also the last model launched before its takeover by Fiat.

The seller informs us that this 1991 example has had only two previous owners, the first of whom accumulated almost all the mileage indicated by the odometer, and only sold the car when he could no longer drive it for health reasons. The Alfa remained unused in the garage of the second owner and was then bought by the seller. Afterwards, it received some attention that made it workable and drivable again, even though it has not passed an MOT since 2013.

For those who are looking for a high-end project, this 75 is remarkably original and very well preserved. With further tuning of the mechanics and a new Overhaul, it could be driven as is in short order, or be an excellent basis for a restoration while you are using it.

History and Documentation

  • Odometer shows 239,721 km - almost all driven by first owner
  • The first owner had to stop driving the car for health reasons
  • Second owner kept the car in the garage without driving it
  • Offered without overhaul - (last test in 2013)
  • Received light maintenance from seller and is now running and drivable
  • ASI registered - (documentation present)
  • Registration papers present
  • The seller informs us that the car is not known to have ever been involved in an accident
  • We have been informed that it has been very scrupulously maintained in the past

Condition

  • Original solid-looking bodywork
  • The 'Rosso Alfa' paintwork is in good overall condition with a patina commensurate with its age
  • There are a few small scratches, some cracks in the clearcoat and a few small chips on the paintwork otherwise in very good shape
  • No visible signs of corrosion on the bodywork or underbody
  • Original Speedline rims look good for their age
  • Original fabric upholstery in good condition
  • There are no visible signs of wear on the seats apart from some discolouration and light scratches
  • The seller did not drive the car for long, so could not test the efficiency of all cabin electrical services, instrumentation and controls

Mechanics

  • Twin-Spark' 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine
  • Five-speed manual gearbox
  • Original engine compartment in good shape
  • It has been reported to us that after recent work to bring it back into service, this Alfa starts immediately, runs properly and drives as it should
  • The vendor recommends further tuning before embarking on long journeys
