There was little to distinguish the 8:32 from a regular Lancia Thema, which was itself one of the cars to use the 'Type Four' platform shared by Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Saab. However, beneath its relatively plain exterior lay the beating heart of a prancing horse - a Ferrari-designed 3.2-litre, 32-valve V8 derived from the 308 Quattrovalvole and adapted to accommodate a cross-cranked crankshaft. It cost almost twice as much as the four-cylinder Thema, which was visually almost identical, and Lancia only sold around 4,000 examples.
